Bowfisherman Robert Belk, Randy Rippy and Belk’s son Talor were bowfishing the Yazoo River late last month when they ran into an alligator gar of state record proportions. The incredible mammoth would measure 7-feet 2-inches, weighing in at 234 pounds!
On May 12, 2011, Akron Ohio resident, Zachary Jared was bowfishing at night on Turkeyfoot Lake in Summit County. It was there were he would arrow a record setting longnose gar that broke the tape at over 53 inches in length, weighing in at 19.21 pounds!
In mid-March of this year Illinois bowfisher, Jeremy Leu, of Norris City harvested a NEW state record Longnose Gar from the Wabash River. At 56 inches long and weighing 27.2 lbs. this marks the second time a record Gar has been taken since the Illinois.
